Tokens - often referred to as cryptocurrencies - can represent anything from an asset to an access right, such as gold, diamonds, a fraction of a Picasso painting or an entry ticket to a concert. Tokens could also be used to reward social media contributions, incentivize the reduction of CO2 emissions, or even ones attention for watching an ad. While it has become easy to create a token, which is collectively managed by a public Web3 infrastructure like a blockchain network, the understanding of how to apply these tokens is still vague.

The industry keeps referring to “Blockchain” as different from “Bitcoin,” creating an artificial divide that is often misleading. There seems to be too little understanding about the fact that Bitcoin is a blockchain network, which is (a) globally managed by people who mostly do not know each other, and (b) enabled by the consensus protocol that (c) incentivizes all network actors for their contributions with a native token. The governance rules are tied to the minting of a native blockchain token. The Bitcoin token can, therefore, be seen as the currency of a distributed Internet tribe, called the Bitcoin network, where network actors are rewarded with Bitcoins, just as the Ether is the currency of the distributed Internet tribe Ethereum network, or Sia is the native currency of the Sia network. The Bitcoin network and other distributed ledgers all represent a collectively maintained public infrastructure and are the backbone of the next generation Internet, what the crypto community refers to as the Web3.

## What is a smart contract?

Smart contracts are the backbone of decentralized applications (DApps) and Web3. A smart contract is a simple program that lives on a blockchain network (such as Ethereum). They're actually not that smart. And nothing like a (legal) contract. They’re more like an executable piece of code that requires input or an trigger from an external source. - **ICO**

- **JOMO**

- **KYC**  
  Know Your Customer, a process to verify the identity of customers; often used by centralized exchanges or entities

- **Layer 1**  
  Base blockchain architecture that serves as the foundation for other layers, also called mainnet, e.g., Ethereum

Odds are you’ve heard about the Ethereum blockchain, whether or not you know what it is. It’s been in the news a lot lately, including the cover of some major magazines, but reading those articles can be like gibberish if you don’t have a foundation for what exactly Ethereum is. So what is it? In essence, a public database that keeps a permanent record of digital transactions. Importantly, this database doesn’t require any central authority to maintain and secure it. Instead it operates as a “trustless” transactional system — a framework in which individuals can make peer-to-peer transactions without needing to trust a third party OR one another.

Still confused? That’s where this post comes in. My aim is to explain how Ethereum functions at a technical level, without complex math or scary-looking formulas. Even if you’re not a programmer, I hope you’ll walk away with at least better grasp of the tech. If some parts are too technical and difficult to grok, that’s totally fine! There’s really no need to understand every little detail. I recommend just focusing on understanding things at a broad level.

1. Have a list of all OP Collective Receiver Addresses
2. Track all transfers to and from those addresses, regardless of counterparty
3. Build a list of all known Superchain member sender addresses, and tag transactions accordingly.

Transfers are infrequent and require audit-ability. So we should preserve all transaction & transfer level data, which we then build our aggregations on top of.

**Other Considerations**
Some transfers will come from a generic RaaS address, and not be clearly attributable by Superchain member. We should have some method for (later on) manually attributing / splitting a transfer by the appropriate Superchain member (i.e. RaaS A sends 1 ETH, we need to split 0.3 for Chain B's revshare, and 0.7 for Chain C's revshare.

In #36 we introduced zktrie and included the specification https://github.com/scroll-tech/reth/blob/feat/scroll-bmpt/crates/scroll/trie/assets/zktrie.md. The specification is outdated and does not include mention of domain separation for node hashing. We should update it to include this.

The constants for domain seperation in node hashing can be found here:

Update `zktrie` Specification 

Currently, in the calldata serialization logic in `sncast` we only try to use data transformer if `--arguments` flag is prezent. If not, and no `--calldata` was provided, an empty vec is used as calldata and the transaction fails after execution attempt.

The logic should be changed, so if no `--arguments` flag is provided, data transformer is called but with an empty vec. This way instead of provider (starknet) error, the user will be shown a nice, data transformer error.

In https://github.com/foundry-rs/starknet-foundry/blob/8ce451e58b1305f7e6769451a18412970157dc1a/crates/sncast/src/main.rs#L168 update the logic, so `Ok(vec![])` fallback is removed. If `calldata` is some, use it, otherwise always call `Calldata::new(arguments).serialized(contract_class, selector)` and, if not arguments were provided by the user, provide empty `vec![]` as arguments.

Additionaly, introduce an e2e test verifying that even if no `--arguments` or `--calldata` is provided and a called contract expects calldata, relevant error from data transformer (`Calldata::new(arguments).serialized(contract_class, selector)`) is displayed and/or update any relevant existing tests.

Originally we had quite some logging that was happening on history/state/beacon network level at `info` log level. This was very useful for developers, but not really for regular users. Hence we moved some/most of that logging to `debug`. However, `debug` log level is way to verbose now, and we should be moving some of the `debug` to `trace` (especially a lot of the `utp` logs) to still have a similar experience as developer.

Additionally, there are quite some logs which are redundant considering the same or similar error message is also transferred a layer up via a `Result`.

**Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.**
There is currently no way to track from which peer the gossip message was received. This makes it harder to identify peers that are actively sending gossip messages.

**Describe the solution you'd like**
In order to track messages received from gossip peers, the `OnMessage` event in the `ITopic` interface should be updated to include `PeerId` as an argument. For example, the event declaration can be modified from `event Action<byte[]>? OnMessage;` to `event Action<PeerId, byte[]>? OnMessage;`. This change allows the event to provide information about the peer that sent each gossip message, enabling better tracking of message sources.

We have only partial coverage for our tracing API. Specially I am concerned the methods that are useful only when something goes wrong, e.g. debug_standardTraceBlockToFile, debug_standardTraceBadBlockToFile, debug_intermediateRoots are out of date and we might find ourselves not being able to use them when they are needed. We have some tests in `eth/tracers/api_test.go`. We should expand them to cover at least these 3 methods + debug_traceBadBlock.

#### Background
[ethereum/tests](https://github.com/ethereum/tests) was the repository used to define EVM test cases from [Frontier](https://ethereum.org/en/history/#frontier) up to and including [The Merge](https://ethereum.org/en/history/#paris). The test cases are defined as YAML (and sometimes JSON) files in the [./src/ sub-directory](https://github.com/ethereum/tests/tree/develop/src) and the JSON "test fixtures" (fully-populated tests that can be executed against clients) are generated using [ethereum/retesteth](https://github.com/ethereum/retesteth). These JSON artifacts are regenerated when required and added to the repository, for example, in the [./GeneralStateTests/ sub-directory](https://github.com/ethereum/tests/tree/develop/GeneralStateTests).

From [Shanghai](https://ethereum.org/en/history/#shapella) on, new test cases (in particular for new features included in hard-forks) have been defined in Python in this repository (execution-spec-tests). The existing test cases are still important to execute against clients, however, and porting ethereum/tests to execution-spec-tests ensures that the test cases can be continually maintained and filled (generated) for newer forks. It also has the advantage that client teams will only need to obtain test fixture releases from one source.

#### Automated Port to Python
Although there will be an effort to automate ("transpile") the remaining test cases from YAML (respectively JSON) to Python; contributions to manually port individual test cases can be very beneficial and are welcome! 

The benefits of manual porting are:
1. Reduce the number of test cases by combing multiple YAML (resp. JSON) test cases in one Python test function (via parametrization).
2. Potentially improve coverage by parametrizing the Python version.
3. Code/docstrings are likely higher quality than an automated conversion.
4. The test can be better [organized within the `./tests` folder](https://ethereum.github.io/execution-spec-tests/main/writing_tests/adding_a_new_test/) in execution-spec-tests by the fork and the EIP in which the functionality was introduced.

#### Process
1. Pick a single or a set of YAML test cases in ethereum/tests to port and create an issue in this repository - optional, but definitely recommended if porting tests from the tracker below to avoid duplicate work.
2. Create a PR with the ported tests:
    a. Add the list of ported YAML files to [converted-ethereum-tests.txt](https://github.com/ethereum/execution-spec-tests/blob/1b30c336eae6b0746ea4db441ac74406f2fb2322/converted-ethereum-tests.txt).
    b. If the tests can't currently be filled, please explain the issue (feel free to also [open a Discussion](https://github.com/ethereum/execution-spec-tests/discussions/new?category=general)).

1. Read their available metadata from there (i.e. L1 contracts), rather than maintaining our own.
2. Calculate a field for OP Governed chains `ProxyAdminOwner = "0x5a0Aae59D09fccBdDb6C6CcEB07B7279367C3d2A"`

Eventually, only include chains in dashboards if they appear in the registry, to incentivize listings and remove the manual effort of managing multiple registries.

Currently, when annotations are missing, we return the following error:

We should display a more descriptive message that clearly explains what is wrong. The message should be similar in approach to what the `coverage` functionality displays:
